I am working on my nephew's line and this is what my sister gave me (source unknown). The name Greiff I have found spelled both ways 'ie' and 'ei'. I would like to verify this information and connect with anyone researching these names.

Hi Jan
I checked out the Schenectady site. I'm sure the two lines probably meet but it would be back in Holland.
The Van Eps that I am working on were still in Holland in 1792 when Johannes Marinas Van Eps was born. By 1829 they were in Curacao where Johan Frederik Karel Van Eps was born. Johan's granddaughter Urania Louisa Helena Van Eps was born in 1884 in St. Thomas, Virgin Is., in 1904 she married in New York City and moved to CA sometime later.

My grandmother name was Jane Mary Bresson van Eps, she was the daughter of Johan Marin Frederik Statius van Eps (born in 1849) and Helena Jeannette Elizabeth Vaissier.
The family tree I got says that my grandmother was related to Jacobus van Eps born in Middelburg around 1730. Her brothers were Cornelis Lodowijk, Redelphina, Lucie Elizabeth, Marina Augusta and Urania Louisa and they were settled in Curacao, Netherland Antilles. My grandmother married to Johannes van der Hans and came to Panama city, Panama and had 13 siblings, one of them is my mother. I would like to know if you have more information of any related family alive, anywhere.
thanks,

Hi Paula,

I don't think I am related to you, however, there is a Van Eps site in Rootseb that I think will help you. I think you find it if you enter "Van Eps Family of Schenectady, NY". The contact is Channon Moon, her address is starmoon@nycap.rr.com. I looked and there is a Jacobus VanEps born in 1730, Zeeland Netherland. There also is a mention of Middleburg, Netherland. This is a very good site that goes back to the Netherlands. The Van Eps family helped settle Schenectady County and there is a lot of history.

I have not been able to tie myself into this clan. I wish I could, I was born in Schenectady and it seems that I should have some connection. My family Earnest Frank Van Eps came from Holland to Brooklyn, Kings County, NY between 1870-1892. My grandfather Henry was born in Brooklyn, NY.
Henry moved to Town of Rensselearville, NY, Albany County in about 1909. He also lived in Schenectady for awhile. I can't out any info on their sibling etc.

I hope this helps, let me know if you cannot find the Van Eps and I will get the exact address.

Linda

Hi Linda
Thank you for your response. I am already listed on Channon Moon's site but I appreciate your mentioning it.

At this time my PC with all my information is down so I can't check your information against mine but I suspect all these Van Eps are related. Someday, we may find the link, hopefully.

Hi Jan
We are related since Johanes Marinas van Eps was the father of my grandmother who came from Curacao and Urania Louisa was my grandmother´s sister. My grandmother was Jane Mary Bresson van Eps and came to Panama in 1904, she died here in 1964.
I have a family tree made by cousins in Curacao, I also have the address of these cousins.
Are you interested? Do you have more info?
Regards,
Gloria
