My great grandma was Fanny Oldknow of Holbrook. My mother's cousin has done a lot of research on the Oldknow family. If you haven't already come across her, Ann Peat, I can give you her address. My grandma, Olive, was an only child and went on to marry Walter Moulsdale.

Hello Rebecca...thanks for responding to my query about the Oldknows of Holbrook.

My great-grandmother Emma was the daughter of James and Mary (Walker).

Emma was the eldest child and had the following siblings.
Ages given are from the 1881 Census.

Jane 22yrs Holbrook
William 19yrs "
Sarah 15yrs "
James 13yrs "
Eliza 11yrs "
Joseph 9yrs Milford
Mary 4yrs "

I haven't come across any of the people you mention, but I suspect that Holbrook, as I knew it in the 1950s was much smaller 100yrs prior.

Would love to hear back from you when you have a moment.

Hello Barbara,
My Great Grandmother Agnes Oldknow was your Emma's sister. She was the first child of James & Mary and was born in 1854, Holbrook. She married George Smith and they lived in Milford. Sadly, both George & Agnes died young - he at 35 and she at 46. Their only son died young also, aged 21, but their daughter, Mary Eliza, married my Grandfather, Joseph Ormond in 1905, Milford. I believe Emma and Henry moved to Heanor (1911 census). My G grandmother Agnes was a witness at Emma & Henry's wedding.
