Hello! I am an Oades! My line, as far back as I know it, starts with William Oades, born abt. 1600, married to Agnes and having five children, Elizabeth,1637, Thomas, 1639, John, 1642, William Jr., 1644, James, 1648. They were of the Parish of St. Giles, in Reading, Berkshire, England. I am descended down from Thomas and thanks to the wonderful postings on this board, have found all the generations listed on down through my grandfather, Elza Guy Oades, of Oregon, USA.
I used to correspond with a Mr. Don Vannatter when I lived in Oregon. My hubby was transferred to NY in 1984 and I lost track of Mr. Van Natter's where abouts after we moved. I believe he was moving also. I notice many of the posts use correspondence with him as a source. I also notice a Marvin Tingdahl book used as a reference and some type of photos used as reference.
I would love to hear from Mr. Van Natter again and also from Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Tingdahl, and also from the people who have the photographs that were used as source material. I have a few photos of the ancestors myself and of more current generations.
Also, Mr. Van Natter had mentioned Oades reunions in Canada when I was corresponding with him. I was wondering if they still have the annual Oades reunions? Anyone seeking to correspond is more than welcome! Sincerely, Linda Lyon
