My grandfather, Earl C. Langguth, was born in Germany and came to the United States in the early 1900's. I note that he is not listed in the social security registry, although it appears that his brothers are listed and his sister. My grandmother was named Kathleen Langguth. I am looking for further information in regards to the Langguth family. According to my information, his sister was named Alice and one brother was named Ralph. Beyond that I am not sure. If there is anyone who can help me with this I would sure appreciate your help.

After checking things through a little more, it turns out that my grandfather Earl C. had a father named Carl (whom my father knows practically nothing of), and he had two brothers (Howard and Ralph) whom we also know very little about. My grandfather died at about 57 yrs. of age in San Diego CA in 1954. My father tells me that there is so little that we know, and that the families did not keep in touch, that it is hard to have clear facts. So, while I wrote one thing in introducing the subject, please excuse my confusion.

My grandfather was Carl Langguth and one of his three sons was named Edward. Carl lived near Scranton, PA and worked as a farmer and finally a painter and died in the city. I do have his death notice. Edward lived in Maple Shade, NJ and died in that area too. I don't know of any sons by Edward although there may have been some. It sound as though we are from different lines although there may be some connection back in Germany that I am unaware of. Do you have any info on Carl Langguth and where he may have come from in Germany? Perhaps we can keep this going and learn something. Thanks for your message.

Earl Chbester Langguth (my father) was born on December 5, 1894 in Scranton, PA. He was the son of Carl Langguth, who was indeed born in Germany, coming to this country with his father at the age of 3. Carl's father was Michael J. Langguth, arrivintg in this country shortly after the Civil war.
My mother, Kathleen Dakeyne Webster Langguth was born on May 19, 1894 in Southampton, England and came to this country with her family at the age of three after the death of her father. She grew up on Julian, Californika.
