I am searching for the family name of Kohn, or any one of the spellling that might be included...

My greatgrand parents where Frederick and Emma Jean Kohn..Married 5/30/1893. They had six children, three boys and three girls. Frederick came from Zernin, Germany, born April 13, 1902. My mother gave me alot of false info as to family names and dates, I would like to get the proper pass on to my siblings and my own children.

My maiden name is Kohn. I don't have any real solid proof of all of this, but my great grandfather was Frank born 1850 In Luxembourg or Germany. I've been told that his father may have been Bernard. Bernard may have had 5 children: John (born 1845) , Mary (born 1846), Katharina (born 1847). Peter (born 1850) and John (born 1856). Frank Kohn and family were all from Cherokee Iowa. Don't know if any connection

My grgrgrgrandmother was Caroline Kohn b. 1793 in Wetteldorf, Germany
near the Luxembourg border. She married Jacobus Bruchgans around 1820.
I have been unable to find any more information on her parents. Her name was
sometimes spelled Kahn or Kahnn. According to my grandmother's memory, Caroline
was Jewish. This is all that we have on this woman. Is there any connection?

Hi Amy:

I just started looking through web pages this
morning. I've always felt a huge disconnect
from my family roots because my father was
lifelong military (retired not dead), we were
very transient, and we seldom met family
or discussed family or tradition.
Now both my parents seem completely
disinclined to talk about our roots at all.

My father is Edward Kohn, born Long Island
New York in 1931.

I understand that there were jewish Kohns
(or Kahn) from Germany. But my father
always insisted that our name was celtic;
perhaps deriving from Gohen or Gohn.

Good luck on your search.

Martshal, have you tried to contact any relatives? I have discovered some "odd" things when searching for information: a great deal has been told to me by non-blood relatives: people sho have married into the family. Also, I have gotten information about my father's side of the family from people on my mother's side! Try it. You might find, as I did, that others might be more cooperative.

My father was Ray Kohn. (At least that's what my mother says.) Her name was Ruth Boime. The two met in Los Angeles and as a result, I was born in 1966. My mother said that shortly after I was born, he died. If you have any information, please contact me.
