This was a fairly common name in the Vohlyn Region>late 18th century - 1919 this was called Vohlynskaya Gubernia/Region under Czarist Russia>and is today's UKRAINE. The surname, Kapitula, is Ukrainian. What was your immigrant ancestor's given name?

May I ask how old your husband is?

I am comfortable to say that Frank Kapitula, who you described by address, is Samuel's brother. Frank passed away in 1952. He lived into his 80s. Peter Kapitula, one of Frank's three sons, was my grandfather who passed away in 1966. Peter Kapitula married Eva Hody (from Poland) and had one child, Dolores - who is my mother.

I just came across some old information I have. Did Peter Kapitula work for the railroad? I have a Peter Kapitula, born 29 May. 1909 who worked out of Akron from 1945 to 1946. The information is from Matt Anderson, Archivist (Work).

I was looking for infromation as to were Stephen worked and came across this. Gae

I'm not sure if anyone still checks this thread, but I wanted to give some information regarding St. Theodosius. This is taken from the Lemko Rusyns and Friends (Лемкы-Русины з приятелями) Facebook group:

"An American Lemko community whose importance cannot be overstated was that of Cleveland, Ohio. While there were Lemkos in various Carpatho-Rusyn and Ukrainian Greek Catholic & Orthodox parishes in the city, their primary parish was St. Theodosius of Chernigov Orthodox Church, founded 1896 in Tremont on the west side of the city."

Could it be that your Kapitulas were from Galicia (now Poland) and not Russia? If so, our Kapitulas may be connected. (They do show up on a distant relatives AncestryDNA match of mine.)
