James Huffine married Josephine Warton in Wayne Co., Tennessee. They came to Oklahoma about 1905, raised their family and died here. I am looking for information on these two families. They are my great-grandparents.

I can't help you with James, but I would
guess he is a decendant of Christian
Huffine (Hofheintz) who came to this country
on the ship "Two Brothers" landing in
Carolina. He settled in Kentucky. Many of
his decendants went to Texas and there are
still many of them around Dallas. There is a
street and a city park in Richardson, TX.
named for Huffines. May have more info later.
I'm looking for ones that came from Ohio to
Ill.,namely Jacob fron Pickering Co. Ohio.

Don't give up on me. I will get the info to you. I am running behind with my queries. From memory James (I believe midle name is Henry) Huffine was born in Wayne CO. Tennessee. He is my g grandfather who died before I was born. I knew G grandma, Josie, (Josephine Warton) also born in Wayne Co., Tennessee. They came to Oklahoma about 1905. James died here in 1913 and buried near Cement, Grady Co., OK. His dad I believe was named Peter. I found a will from a Peter Huffine in the Wayne Co., courthouse that gave his farm to "my beloved son James" James and Josie's kids grew up in OK at Cement and Cyril. From memory, there was Tom, Hester, Lillian (my grandmother) and two or three other boys.
I believe Peter's mother was Matilda but can not prove it at this time.

I find it ironic that you mentioned Grady Co. OK. I lived in Rush Springs, OK for most of my childhood. My grandmother, Nettie Icenogle still lives there. She was married to a James Huffine (i believe) They had my father, Melvin Huffine, in which of course, my father had me, Melissa Huffine. If you need information about Nettie Icenogle to help you in your search please email me at:

My memory was tapped a few moments ago. His name was James McKinley Huffine and he resided in Chickasha, Ok. the last i knew. There was also a James Huffine that resided in Rush Springs. I hope that this surge of memory helps.

Melisa, good to hear from you. Your James Huffine is not the same as mine but I'll bet they are related. There was a pretty big family. Mine came from Tennessee but I knew Josephine (my great grandmother) and she was his only wife. My James died about 1913, I believe if memory serves me. They had a farm in Grady Co. but lived near Cement and Cyril which are very close to Chickasha. Keep in touch because I'll bet they are related in someway.
