My Galioto ancestors originated in Bagheria, Sicily. My grandparents, Pietro Galioto Maria Taormina, came to the US in 1914. They initially lived in New Castle, PA., but eventually settled in Cleveland, OH. I have traced my Galioto line back to the the late 1700's in Bagheria. It appears that the Galioto surname originated in this area.

My great-grandmother,Cristina GALIOTO came to
America from Bagheria, Sicily in about the
year 1925 with her husband Domenico PALADINO
he was also from Bagheria. Her parents were
Salvatore GALIOTO and Pauline DRANT.
Domenico and Cristinas' children were Joe,
Charles, Sam,Pauline,and Anthony. I don't
know anything else aboutCristinas' parents
or siblings. Bagheria was small enough that
we must link up somewhere. I would greatly
appreciate your help and the opportunity to
work together on our families' history

I too have ancestors from bagheria, Vincenzo Paladino married Nunzia Galiotto, they had a son name Benedetto who married Giovanna Martora....
i'm not sure if benedetto had brothers or sisters (but i would imagine that he did)..It's funny that we each have a Paladino, Galiotto from bagheria .. as you mentioned in your note, it was a very small population. I wonder if we have a connection..

The name Nunzia Galiotto sounds familiar.
Could you please e mail me directly at ?
I would like to send you copies of my family
group sheets (in exchange for more detailed information
about the family that you mentioned please)
to see if we match up anywhere? I gave up looking for a while, thank you so much for your reply.

Some of my family information:

Mi great grand fhater Orazio Galato was from Sicilia in 1855. He was born about 1837

My Father saw the surname was change in argentinian Migrations office.

I have always believed that Galioto was the original name with the interpretation of the marnier who calls cadence to those rowing.
Interested in learning about lost family members who immigrated around the word in the early 1900's.

Mi family´s name:

Gregorio, Teofilo, Giovanni, Giovanni Teofilo, Maria,Lorenzo,Joaquin.

I want to know about the surname and origins.

Tahnks a lot
