My grandmother's (Flora Clark) maiden name was Dumaine. Her mother name was Exilda.I do not know her father's name ( He died when she was 9 mo. old. ).Exilda worked for a doctor's family in Vt. while her children ( George, Agnes, and Flora) lived in a convent in Montreal.I know that the convent is still standing today, but am not sure which one it is. If you have any information about the Dumaine's I would love to know.

My great great grandfather was Aime Dulmaine, I believe that the name may have been Dumaine. He was born in Acton Vale, PQ in 1862. Do you know if this may be a relation? I do not know who his parents are. He died in Worcester, MA on July 20, 1922. He married Virginie (Virginia) Gaudette. Any help is appreciated.

Hi Colleen. It's very, very likely. Guess where Elzeard and Christine immigrated to: Worcester, MA. Too much of a coincidence, don't you think?

Do you have the parents of Christine? Do you know when she came to Worcester? Is she burried in a local cemetery in Worcester. I live in Worcester and am willing to do some leg work.

Yes, her parents were Michel Dumaine and Ursule Languirand. I don't have any dates or anything on them. I got this info from a Fontaine researcher. Maybe he has more. This is wonderful that you live in Worcester. I will have to look through my records and see what info you might be able to look up there. Please e-mail me any time:

Oops, I gave you the wrong info in my other message. Christine did not as far as I know go to Worcester, but her son and daughter-in-law did. Eugene Fontaine died and she remarried in Acton Vale Sept. 28, 1899 to Louis Belanger. It is possible she followed her son to Worcester later, but I don't know for sure.

I am researching the name Mingot dit Dumaine. Some of the family took the Dumaine name and some took the Mingot(Mingo) name. I have a Marie Exilda Chartier married to Raphael Dumaine 2-24-1879. Where in Vermont did Exilda work? My family migrated from Quebec to Vermont also.

My great grandfather was Aime Dulmaine; I am descended from Arthur Anthony Dulmaine, number 3 child (of 17)of Aime and Virginie. Colleen, who posted to this message board, provided me with much information. I am now eager to learn more, especially anything prior to Aime.

Hi Michelle

My name is Donna and also a Dumaine. I've done reseach at the American-Canadian Genealogical Society in Manchester NH and have found alot of information on the Dumaines also Mingo, Mingot,Mingault. The original I have found was Maingot from the province of Maine in France. I was told that the Maingot family did not want to forget where they came from so they used a dit name Dumaine. Where are you in your reseach? I do remember seeing Raphael in my reseach. Do you know who his father was? I do not know where you are from so I don not know if you could go to the Society in Manchester NH. You can contact me at my E-Mail 39c1@ media>
