Thanks for responding--I show Dooreti Theodocia Darland Marrying Daniel Brewer (b 1770) on July 9 1795 in Harrodsburg --Daniel also being of dutch lineage and the brewers/ Brouwers being from early New Jersey. His father was Abraham Brewer and mother Sarah Truax Have some of the Darlands but not much--I show Jannetje and Garrett marrying in 1773 but not much else and nothing on their families. Do appreciate anything you can help me with --are they from Holland, involved in a church in New paltz or New Amsterdam that I should search? I live in Maryland and can occassionally get into Delaware/New Jersey or DC so if i can help you let me know. Dave

I was just given this weekend pictures and old papers from my grandmother and greatgrandmother. In the papers is a handwritten note:

"Isaac Darland was born November the 12 Married Elsie Reynolds
Elsie (Alsey) Darland was born May 20, 1798
Isaac Darland died August 11, 1839
Alsey Darland died Febuary 25, 1872
James B. Darland
Martha Darland Taylor
John Darland
Samuel Darland
George Darland
Mary Darland Dodge
William T. Darland
Martin Darland"

At the bottom of the paper the following is written: " Louisa Robinson, Greenbush, Ill"

In one of the books it is written, "Grandmother, Elsie Reynolds, was born and raised in North Carolina. Married Isaac Darland moved to Kentucky on horseback. There her first child James was about 3 years old he was stolen by the Indians and kept several hours. They moved from KY to Indianna. James Darland was married to Mary Charles. Their oldesn child was born there Lavina, Mary Charles came from Ohio to Indiana when 12 years old they moved to Illiois in an early day then to Iowa in 1855. Grandmother had been so kind to one squaw learning her to knit that she took pitty on Grandmother that she told her papoose way down hollow, but Grandmother had all ready worried so bad that it caused her unborn child to be affected."

There is more written in the book...let me know if you are interested in the information. I would be happy to receive any information that you may have on this family.
