I have just started to research the name Baustert. My grandad was Nicholas John Baustert from Lux./Apollo, Pa. I am looking for info on his brothers and sisters and his children. It is my understanding that 3 brothers settled in Pa., Mi., and Ok. Any info on Baustert will be helpful.

My father, Burt B. Baustert (W.W.I W.W.II) was born May 22, 1900, and
orphaned early on so we have no records. Burt's father was William Baustert
- mechanical engineer -- of Pennsylvania. William moved to Chicago married
Effie Hertel (born 1872). They had six children, Burton B.; Vivian; Edith; Elanor, Fred and brother who died name not known.

If you are related, any information regarding William Baustert or Effie Hertel would be greatly

Hi Jim,
We have talked before. I found a lot of info on Baustert's in America, a book published in the early 1970s. There was nothing there on my line or yours.
That particular line came from Germany, mine is from Luxembourg. Where did William come from in Pa.??? I am from Pa. originally. Please respond, thanks.

Re: William Baustert "from Pennsylvania" - the only information I have on William came from my father's WWI registration form (I secured from the VA through the freedom of Information Act) - on it he listed "Father, William Baustert from Pennsylvania." I cannot substantiate the accuracy but it is the only lead I have. William married Effie Hertel from Chicago (in chicago) but no more information has been found. I checked in the CLDS (Mormon) records without success. I have not been able to access death records from Illinois via the net but I may be able to get down there and investigate them at some time in the future. I'll keep you posted on Bausterts found.
I have a memory of being told as a kid that the Bausterts came from Luxembourg but that's a pretty slim lead.
Good luck on the search.

Hi Jeannie,

Have we been in touch before?.. I noticed you had information on Oklahoma Bausterts.
I have quite a database myself. Would love to compare notes with you...
I live in Oklahoma City.
I have Bausterts from Germany in my database also if you have not already found them.
It is a complete other line from the Bausterts in Oklahoma and Nebraska, but all related. Putting these databases together has produced 6th cousins.

I am a descendant of Baustert/Hau. I've been to Oklahoma for a reunion. Have a lot of info if this is the family you're looking for. My greatgrandparents were Joseph and Anna and lived in St. Ed, NE. I still have many relatives in the Okarche area.
Let me know if I can help you.

My grandmother was Eleanor Baustert!! I have just started looking into the family history. My grandmother married John Moldt, and they had my mother and another daughter. My mother was Agnes E. Moldt Keller, and she always went by her middle initial, not name. But since finding out that her grandmother was Effie, I now know she was named after her. I remember Aunt Viv and Aunt Edith from my childhood when they would come to visit. My grandparents lived in Elwood all their lives, and I believe I remember both aunts lived in Elgin. I believe Aunt Edith's child, Harry Upton, lived somewhere in Minnesota.
