HI, CARLENE! I AM ALSO TRYING TO FIND INFO ON MY ANCESTOR, ELISABETH ALLENDORF, FROM DARMSTADT; PARENTS WERE JOHANNES AND CHRISTINA ENGEL ALLENDORF. ELISABETH MARRIED ANDREAS SEESLE(BORN IN BAVARIA) IN WEST HOBOKEN, HUDSON COUNTY, NEW JERSEY USA IN 1879. ANDREAS' PARENTS' NAMES WERE DAVID AND MARGARETHA BUSCH SEESLE AND ELIS. AND ANDREAS NAMED THEIR SON DAVID, ALSO. ON THE 1880 N.J. CENSUS, ANDREAS WAS 32 (BORN IN 1848) ELISABETH WAS 35 (BORN IN 1845) AND THEIR SON, DAVID, WAS 2 MO. OLD. I WONDER IF ELISABETH HAS ANY SIBLINGS THAT MIGHT HAVE MOVED ONTO OHIO. DOES ANY OF THESE NAMES SOUND FAMILIAR? LYNN jhla@nctc.com

CARLENE, I ALSO WANTED TO TELL YOU THAT IN ONE PLACE IT SAYS ELISABETH IS FROM DARMSTADT AND IN ANOTHER IT SAYS MARBURG, HESSE. SO YOU KNOW IF THESE ARE THE SAME THING; MAYBE A TOWN AND A COUNTY?? LYNN

Have you found any information on Henry Allendorf? I noticed that he settled in Ohio, and that is where my line of Allendorf's is from. I am at a dead end on my search, anything would help.
Thanks, Vittoria

Hi, I realize it's been over 5 years since this post. My husband's grandfather is Henry Allendorf from Marburg,in Hesse-Darmstadt. I'm not sure if this is your Henry (I believe there was another Henry Allendorf who settled in Cincinnati about 50-75 years prior to our Henry), but I'd be happy to share what I have with you. Our earliest documented Allendorf was Johann Heinrich Allendorf, born 1791.
