CORALVILLE, Iowa -- Azariel Rae Zulaica, infant daughter of David and Heidi Zulaica died at birth Friday Aug. 31, 2001, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and clinics.

Private services were at the Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty with the Rev. Ed O'Melia officiating. Burial was at the Oak Ridge Cemetery. The Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty was in charge of arrangements.

She is survived by her parents David and Heidi Zulaica of Coralville; two sisters, Hailie and Makayla; grandparents, Homer and Lucille Zulaica of West Liberty and Carol Olson of Clear Lake.
WEST LIBERTY, Iowa -- Lucille M. Zulaica, 52, West Liberty, died Monday, Sept. 20, 2004, at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City, after a brief illness.

Service at St. Joseph Church, West Liberty. The Rev. Dennis Martin will officiate. Burial will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery, West Liberty.

Visitation is with a Christian Wake service followed by a rosary, at the Barker Funeral Home, West Liberty.

Mrs. Zulaica was born Aug. 31, 1952, in Cincinnati, Ohio, the daughter of James and Sarah Oswald Ball. She married Homer Zulaica Sr. July 27, 1972, in Iowa City.

She worked for the Lear Corp., Iowa City, for many years.

She was a member of St. Joseph Church. She was involved in Centro Unido, West Liberty, providing youth development in the community. She served as a volunteer in the University of Iowa Hospital and was an active member of the support group for the 224th Engineering Battalion during Desert Storm. Her grandchildren were a large part of her life.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, David Zulaica of Des Moines and Homer Zulaica Jr. of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; a daughter, Maria Solis of West Liberty; two brothers, Jack Ball of Arizona and Jeff Ball of Dallas, Texas; two sisters, Jane Weaver of Dallas and Linda Younkin of Iowa City; and five grandchildren, Hailie, Makayla, Angela, Veronia and Miguel.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a granddaughter, Azariel Rae in 2001.
