I just found out that my Great Great Grandmother's maiden name was Sevin. She was born/lived in Stonin, Wielkopolskie, Poland. We believe her husband's name was Chaim Hesz and/or Hayman, Hariss Zlotnicki. All their children were born in Horodyszcze, Russia/Poland(I know there are multiple towns in Europe with this name, depending on the year and occupation-depends on the "Country" name)
Does anyone know of this family and could tell me more information about them...I can't find too much on the family....online.
Hodes was born about 1861 and died on 23 Nov 1924-she is buried in Mount Hebron: PLOT: 58-3-E-5-12 in the HORODISCHER BROS Society - most of her children are buried there as well as cousins with the last name of Smith, Grodinsky, Markowitz, Michael, Novitzky, and Zlotnick/Slotnick/Zlotnicki/Zlotnicka/Zolotnitzky/Zolotnicky.
I found two of Hodes' children's marriage information and it lists her maiden name as Sevin. One being my Great Grandparents Rose/Rochel Zlotnick Markowitz, Horodyszcze, Russia, married to Hayman/Harry Mordocowitz Mordchovitz(not sure of the proper spelling of his original last name) Markowitz. I don't know anything about the "Mordocowitz Mordchovitz Markowitz" family as well.
Hodes Zlotnika came to NY via Ellis Island in 1923, she had Alzheimer's and died the following year in 1924. She listed on the Ellis Island manifest that she didn't have any relatives left in Poland anymore. She came over with Great Niece, Golda Nuchimowicz Nachjmowicz(not sure of spelling), also of Stonin, Poland. She was born in abt 1902.
My family tree is on Ancestry.com: http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/16083861
Any help would be SO great!
