My name is Donna Burkey. I am the daughter of Joseph and Eleanor Boron. Joseph is the son of Rose Nawracaj who is the daughter of Gregory and Victoria Urzendowski. Rose also has a daughter Peggy. My dad, Joe, and my Aunt Peg both spent summers in Omaha with their grandparents and have many memories of those times that I am sure they would be very glad to share.
My grandmother Rose and my great-aunts Irene and Anne and my great-uncle Matthew ("Doc") (and possible one other great-uncle) moved to Chicago a long time ago - probably the late 1930's -early 1940's. Irene became a nun. Rose worked in insurance (as does my father).
Irene and Matthew did not have any children, but Anne had a son.
My great-aunt Anne just recently passed away, but Matthew, Rose and Irene are still alive and I am sure would be glad to hear from any relatives.
In the Chicago area there are the Czech's, the Borons, the Pajak's and the Finns who are all grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren of Gregory and Victoria.
Aunt Peg actually just did a big presentation on Gregory and Victoria Urzendowski to Saint Sabina Catholic Church on the south side of Chicago last night (March 23, 2004) as part of a celebration of cultures. This is what got me motivated to look up my great-grandparents here, and I was so glad to see your post!
Please feel free to contact me with any information or questions about our family. I would be very glad to connect you with my grandmother Rose and her siblings - the children of Gregory and Victoria Urzendowski.
