I am a Yawn/Yan/Yon descendant (those are the spellings I have found for my branch of the family).

I descend through Benjamin A. Yawn who married Martha Snellgrove in Laurens County, GA, in 1819. They are my 3g grandparents.

Benjamin Yawn and Martha Snellgrove migrated from Georgia to Dale County, AL, by the 1850 census. Sons Derrell (sp?), Eli, and Seaborn followed him. All patented land in Dale County, AL, in 1858.

By the 1860 census Benjamin Yawn and son Seaborn were in Uchee Anna District of Walton County, FL.

By the 1870 census Seaborn Yawn/Yon was back in Dale County, AL, and I lose track of Benjamin and Martha. (I am presuming that they died in Florida but don't have details.)

Here's my descendancy from Benjamin Yawn and Martha Snellgrove:

Benjamin Yawn m. Martha Snellgrove
Seaborn Yawn/Yon m. Elizabeth Mashburn
Sarah Frances Yon m. James Henry Clark
Cletie Coran Clark m. Minnie Lee Edwards
Avis Elaine Clark m. Senors Hicks
Jerry Merle Hicks (that's me) m. Donald R. Bailey

Note to William Harrell: I am intrigued by the family tree you posted in 2002 for Nicholas and Christiana Yonn of Orangeburgh District, SC. I'm especially interested in learning more about the
Swiss/German connection. Can you provide sources for the Nicholas Yonn family family tree so that I can explore further to see how my Benjamin A. Yawn fits in.

Thanks for any help from anyone.
