James E. Yancy
James E. Yancy, of Stockton, Ca, passed away on March 9, 2009. He was born to William H. and Ida Mae Yancy on November 18, 1931 in Del Rio, Texas. He graduated from Ozona High School, class of 1949.
James enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1951 during the Korean Conflict, and received his Honorable Discharge in 1955. During his service he met and married Lorraine R. Pimentel on December 26, 1954 in Stockton, and following his discharge they made their home in Stockton.
He was employed by Pacific Telephone for 41 years as a Electronics Technician, retiring in 1996. He was a member of the Pacific Telephone Pioneers, the Professional Golfers Association, a past member of the Stockton Moose Lodge, and attended the Quail Lakes Baptist Church. His two most important passions in life was his grandchildren and golfing.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, John James Yancy.
James is survived by his wife of 54 years, Lorraine Yancy of Stockton; children and their spouses, James A. Yancy and Kathy of San Jose, Suzanne M. Yancy-Sardinha and Fred of Jupiter, Florida, and John M. Yancy and Crissy of Stockton; brothers, Travis Yancy of Austin, Texas, and Alvin Yancy of Odessa, Texas; 7 grandchildren, Kari Yancy, Janessa Yancy, Rhea Sardinha, Amie Sardinha, Joshua R. Yancy, John Yancy, Jr, and Isabell Yancy; also niece and her husband, Kim and Ben Sabattino, and grand-nieces, Breann and Kyle.
A Memorial Services will be held on Monday, March 16th, at 3:00 p.m. in the Evergreen Chapel at Cherokee Memorial Park, Hwy 99 and Harney Lane, Lodi. Pastor Wayne Bibelheimer officiating and assisted by the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard.
Committal will be private at Cherokee Memorial Park.
