LAVENIA H YANCY
Funeral services for Lavenia Halbert Yancy, 82, of Tyler, are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 17, 2012, in the chapel of Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home with Chaplain Jerry Berry officiating. Burial will be at Bascom Cemetery.
Mrs. Yancy went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, Sept. 14, 2012, in Tyler. She was born Nov. 14, 1929, in Dallas to the late Jim and Audie Lavenia Quick Halbert. She has lived in Tyler and the New Chapel Hill area all of her life. She was a housewife and homemaker and worked for the Tyler Police Department for many years, and was a Baptist. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester A. Yancy, and a daughter, Debra A. Phillips.
Survivors include her loving family, two daughters and sons-in-law, Cathy and Donny Davis of Canton and Pam and Ron Horton of Ben Wheeler; son-in-law, Glenn Phillips of Kilgore; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jean Yancy Dowdy and William Dowdy; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one niece and one nephew.
Honorary pallbearers are Bill Dowdy Jr., Cheston Phillips, Brad Preston, Wayne Horton, Hayden Preston and Josiah Wood.
