YANCEY WINSTON-SALEM Edna Mae Yancey Aug. 10, 1925 - Sept. 1, 2012 Mrs. Edna Mae Yancey joined her Lord and Savior on Saturday, September 1, 2012. She was born August 10, 1925 and was a long time resident of Winston-Salem. She was a faithful member of First Calvary Baptist Church where she served as a member of the Missionary Board. Mrs. Yancey was a tireless worker in the community, where she fed the elderly and shut-in through the Meals-on-Wheels program, and honored her civic duty by volunteering with the Forsyth County Board of Elections. She wasalso a proud member of the American Legion. She was preceded in death by her mother, Carrie J. Chandler formerly of Winston-Salem, NC; her brother, Henry Chandler; and sister, Ruby Rawls. She will always be remembered as a dedicated wife to Robert N. Yancey, Sr. for over 60 years; she is remembered as a loving mother to her children, Delores Yancey, Geraldine Yancey, Robert (Sandra) Yancey Jr., Gregory (Deborah) Yancey, and Tyrone Yancey, all of the city, and Marshay (Alicia) Yancey of Gallipolis, OH; she was a praying grandmother to 15 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchild-ren; she also leaves to cherish her memory devoted cousins, Vernell Switzer and Peggy Williams; and countless other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon Saturday, September 8, 2012 at First Calvary Baptist Church, 401 N. Woodland Avenue, with Rev. Derwin Montgomery officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon on Saturday at the Church. Online condolences can be made at (RUSSELL)
