A retired mortician and resident of Baton Rouge, he died Friday, April 26, 1996, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center. He was a native of St. Helena Parish. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Visiting at MJR Friendly Service Funeral Home Inc., 7803 Florida Blvd., Denham Springs, 1 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Religious services at Turner Chapel AME Church, Greensburg, at 11 a.m. Thursday, conducted by the Rev. Lee Allen Pounds Jr. and the Rev. Stanley J. Carter, pastor. Interment in churchcemetery. Survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Gloria Dianne Stewart and John Stewart Sr.; a son and daughter-in-law, Clyde W. Yancy Jr., M.D. and Annelle Ahmed Yancy, M.D.; five grandchildren, Kristin T. and Nina M. Yancy, John, Torri and Jeremy Stewart; two sisters, Vivian Y. Smith and Audrey Y. Harrison; four brothers, Lester, Floyd, Dillon and Gordon Yancy; two sisters-in-law, Susie Yancy and Iona Stewart; and two brothers-in-law, Dr. Alfred Stewart and Moran Jones. Preceded in death by wife, Hilda J. Yancy; parents, Robert E. Yancy Sr. and Effie J. Gordon Yancy; a sister, Toretha Yancy; and a brother, Robert Yancy.
