Joe Arthur Yancey, 69, of Dallas died June 19 in Dallas.
He was born in Lindsay, Calif., to Garlie Garfield "Ben" Yancey and Ruth Virginia Blagg Sigford.
He was serving in the Army National Guard when he married Trula Ludden on Jan. 12, 1968, in Las Vegas.
Joe then worked for the California Department of Forestry as an engineer with the fire department. He retired after more than 25 years in 1993. Looking to provide a better way of life for his family, he moved them from Porterville, Calif., to Dallas in 1993.
He was dedicated to his family and very proud of his children. He helped raise his granddaughters and loved them very much.
Joe had a great sense of humor and enjoyed hunting, guns and computers. He was also an avid reader. Joe was always a hard worker and a good provider for his family.
Survivors include his wife, Trula of Dallas; daughter, Tina (John) Kreloff of Salem; sons, Doug Yancey and Joe (Heather) Yancey, all of Dallas; sister, Susan Curnow of Bakersfield, Calif.; four granddaughters; one honorary grandson; and one great-granddaughter.
