Richard Stegall's S.C. Will, dated 16 March 1831, and found in Pack 90, Clerk of Courts Office, Pickens Co., SC:
Bird, Spencer, Blackwell, Linny Yancy (2 ch: Elizabeth and Baylis Yancy), Artemus, Susan, Benjamin, Kelly, Nancy, Patsy Denny and five children of his son Hensly Stegall, deceased.. He does not mention a wife. When the will was filed, it mentioned widow, Margaret and nine children to wit, Benjamin, Patsy Denny, Nancy, Kelly, Birdwell, Blackwell, Linny Yancy, Richard A. Stegall, Susan Williams and two children deceased, Hensly and Spencer Stegall. Spencer Stegall died leaving a widow Sarah Stegall and seven children to wit: Hensly, William, Robert, Peter, Elizabeth and two other names unknown. Richard Stegall, Senr. was helpless about 11 years before his death and could not walk.
Benjamin Stegall appointed Kelly Green Stegall his lawful attorney in matters of his father's estate. Kelly Green Stegall assigned those rights to John Bowen. Margaret Stegall appointed William Holcombe as her attorney. Nancy Stegall, Lumpkin Co., GA, appointed her son, George W. Stegall as her lawful agent. George W. Stegall assigned rights to John Bowen. Richard A. Stegall and Abel Williams appointed John Bowen their lawful attorney.
