BOSSIER CITY, LA - Services for Phillip Rodney Yancy will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Hill Crest Memorial Park on Friday, October 7, 2011. Phil passed away peacefully at Grace Home on October 4, 2011 after a year long battle with lung and brain cancer. Phil was a 1969 Bossier High School graduate and received his college degree in History and Education.
Phil was a noted food and beverage analyst and was known throughout the Shreveport casino community for his dedication and hard work. He was a member of the Crawgator Dive Club and enjoyed their company and friendship on their many dive trips. Phil loved cooking and gardening and spent many hours enjoying both hobbies.
Phil was preceded in death by his father, Nolan Yancy. He is survived by his mother, Earline Yancy, son, Jim Yancy, daughter and son-in-law Alice and James Yates, sister, Nola Yancy, niece Megan Cooke and fiancé, Bernd Ehing, nephew, Ryan Cooke and ex-wife, Vida Yancy.
Family visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. at Hill Crest Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society in Phil's honor.
