He was born on June 19, 1938, in Oak Hill, N.C. He spent most of his life in Westchester, N.Y. He worked as a machinist in New Rochelle, N.Y., for more than 20 years. He moved to Surry County in 1989 with his family and resided there until his death.
He leaves behind to cherish his many happy memories, his beloved wife of 40 years, Shirley Yancey; two daughters, Karen Minerve and Doreen Miller; a son-in-law that he thought of as a son, Joseph Miller; three brothers, Aaron Yancey of Arlington, Texas, Joseph Ross and Bernard Benjamin of New York; a dear mother-in-law, Virginia Harris; a brother-in-law, W.
