Robert Lee Yancey April 8, 1933 ~ Nov. 24, 2009 Resident of Concord Robert Lee Yancey passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 24, 2009. Robert is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Judith Hoel Yancey and their two daughters, Susan Cunningham and her husband Wade, and Karen Coffey and her husband Kyle, all of Clayton. Robert is also survived by four grandchildren, Dana Cunningham of San Diego and Kristen Cunningham, Benjamin and Nathan Coffey, all of Clayton. Robert was born in San Francisco and spent his early years there. As a youth, he was a Sea Scout, which led to his desire to join the Navy. Robert was honorably discharged from the Navy after serving on the USS Jason. After his discharge, he returned to California where he purchased his first home in Concord. While attending DVC, he met his future wife, Judith, and they were married in 1958. Robert was a sheet metal worker by trade and worked locally for 25 years before going to work for Lawrence Berkeley Lab where he applied his sheet metal skills in the project management area. Robert retired from LBL in 1995. Services for Robert will be held at 1pm on Saturday, December 5th at Ouimet Brothers Funeral Chapel, 4125 Clayton Road, Concord. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to your favorite organization.
