Born February 14, 1934, in Wichita Falls, Texas, went home to be with the Lord on December 16, 2008.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Barbara Yancey of Granbury; daughter, Rhonda Harkins and husband Bill of Haltom City; son, Roger Yancey and wife Pauline of Conroe, son Greg Yancey and wife Kathy of Keller; grandchildren, Joseph Harkins and wife Jenn, Robin Harkins, Preston Yancey, Emily Yancey and Shelby Yancey. He also was one of 13 children, survived by four brothers and four sisters, Ralph Yancey, Max Yancey, Truiett Yancey, Willie Yancey, Gene Searle, Betty Tullos, Sherry Cumby, Sarah McCoy; and numerous nephews and nieces.
Having served in the U.S. Army he retired with his wife to Granbury in 1994 after a career in the commercial contracting field. He faithfully served the Lord and was an active church member throughout his life including his final years with Lakeside Baptist Church where he served in various capacities including being president of the Agape’ Sunday School Class.
Family Visitation will be December 26, 2008, from 6 p.m. till 8 p.m. at Wiley Funeral Home 400 Hwy 377 E in Granbury with the Memorial Services on December 27, 2008, at 10 a.m. at Lakeside Baptist Church at 500 West Bluebonnet in Granbury with Dr. Roger Yancey and Dr. Mark Forrest officiating. Interment will follow on a later date at the Greenwood Cemetery in Fort Worth.
