Eddie J. Yancy of Phenix City, Ala., and formerly of Oak Ridge, departed this earthly walk on Wednesday, July 25, 2007 at the Columbus Regional Medical Center in Columbus, GA.
Born January 1, 1956, he was the son of the late Willie Clenton Yancy and his very loving and devoted mother, Mrs. Willie Mae Yancy of Oak Ridge.
He also leaves to cherish his precious memories, a loving and devoted son, Mr. Antonio A. Yancy, who is stationed at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii with the US Navy; his sisters, Ms. Mary J. Yancy of Oak Ridge, Betty S. Cheeseman of Aurora, Colo., and Ms. Rosie Y. Odem of Atlanta, Ga; his brothers, the Rev. Charles (Maria) Yancy of Knoxville, Mr. James L. Yancy of Oak Ridge and the Rev. John (Althea) Yancy of Goose Creek, SC; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Special friends include Mrs. Tammy Yancy, Mrs. Emma Harris and Ms. Crystal Gibson, all of Columbus, GA, Ms. Denise Henderson, Raymond and Frances Gray of Oak Ridge.
A special acknowledgement is given to Ms. Pamela Gibson of Columbus, GA for her unselfish acts of devotion and care of our loved one.
A home Going service will be held at True Light Missionary Baptist Church on Monday, July 30, 2007 at 1pm. Officiating will be the Rev. Darris W. Waters and the Rev. Charles E. Yancy. Interment will follow at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from noon until 1pm.
Weatherford Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.
