Doy "Mr. D" Yancy, 88, of Baytown, Texas, passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2007 at his residence. He was born August 9, 1918, in Ada, Oklahoma to his late Parents: William Yancy and Cordia Mayhan Yancy, resided in Baytown for the last 18 years, previously resided in California and was retired from the construction industry.
"Mr. D" enjoyed playing his fiddle, was a member of the Old Time Fiddlers Club in California, loved gardening and was best known for his tomatoes and melons. One of his greatest passions was music.
He is survived by: His wife of 69 years: Claudine Yancy; Children: Freda Cox and her husband Lowell, Melvin Yancy and his wife Lenor and Coy Yancy and his wife Terry; Brother: Ector Yancy and numerous Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren. Mr. Yancy was preceded in death by: Daughter: Norma Shaw and Parents: William Yancy and Cordia Mayhan Yancy.
Services were entrusted to Navarre Funeral Home of Baytown, Texas.
