Birth: Aug. 2, 1944
Death: Sep., 2007
Elmer "Gene" Yancey, Our beloved Elmer "Gene" Yancey was born on August 2, 1944, in Visalia, CA. He was the only son of Hattie Leora and Jay Bryant. His boyhood was spent being a Boy Scout and playing baseball with his good friends, that he still holds dear today. After attending ASU and joining the Marine Reserves, he married Meg Flory. They had two children; Kristin Dark, now 39, and Philip Yancey, now 36. Later, he moved to Phoenix where he met and married Berna Faught, and gained a stepdaughter, Danyelle, also 39. Gene and Berna live in Mesa, and have been happily married for 24 years. He was also a devoted Grandpa of four boys, and the "papa" of three dogs and a cat. Gene was the owner of a successful tile company, "GY Tile", and was well liked and respected in his field. He was an avid reader, music lover, golfer, traveler, and die-hard Sundevils fan! Gene was intelligent, witty, loving, gentle, and always concerned about the happiness of others. He was so very loved, and will be dearly missed. We find joy and comfort in knowing he is with God and family. Service will be held at Green Acres Mortuary in Scottsdale on Sunday September 23 at 2:00 p.m., with visitation one hour prior.
