MARY JANE YANCEY
Mary Jane Carter Yancey of Saint Joe, Arkansas, was born August 20, 1921, at Atkins, Arkansas, and departed this life on July 16, 2007, in Harrison, Arkansas. She was a homemaker.
She was the daughter of William Jacob and Katie B. Watkins Carter.
She married Rovell Yancey on March 10, 1936. Their family was complete after their three children, Rosalee, Bill and Eddie were born. Together, they operated a dairy farm and raised beef cattle.
Mary Jane and Rovell celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary together in 1986.
She didn’t eat much herself, but she expected the rest of us to eat a LOT. She loved to cook for her family and, of course, we loved to eat the wonderful treats she prepared for us.
She attended Burr Oak School where she was often the “teacher’s pet”.
As a young woman, she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized.
