Hi anyone out there Who could help with infomation on George Thomas Woodrooffe of Lincolns Inn?.
The stone table in St Peters Church Hope, Derbyshire reads as follows:
This tablet was erected in 1881 by George Thomas Woodrooffe of Lincolns Inn. In remembrance of his ancestors and to mark the place of burial of Radulphus Woodrove.
Armiger the keeper of the Kings Forest of High Peak in Hope Dale and who 24th King Edward 1st 1303 was succeeded in his office by his son Robert.
Whose monuments for the better care thereof were in 1881 when this chancel was rebuilt placed within the commuion rails and whose descendents until the year 1855 continued to reside in Hope and have been interred in the family vault beneath this stone.
Anyone know who is in this vault?. My connection with the Woodroofe family of Hope goes back to the 1600s , or this is the point I am stuck at. There is a connection it is said between the Woodroffes of Wolley and the Woodroofes of Hope , would love to hear more about this. Gill
