Mr Ron Woodring, I read you post and got the information from Marg Bond and I also got more information from one of husbands cousins. Their family history was stated in 1948 by a cousin named Mabel Ghering Grandquist. She was tracing the family of Nicholas and Margaret Frantz Wotring. She traces them from Germany/France and the various tranformations of the name till it became Woodring. She got a lot of information from the Heugonot immigrants in Memorials of Heugonots in America by Rev. Stapleton. I'm sure you also got some information there. She stated that the earliest mention of Nicholas was in 1797 at the Batism of John Nicholas Wotring son of Abraham Wotring at the Egypt Reform church Lehigh Co. Pa. We weren't sure who was the progenitor of this side of the family because we didn't know who left the eastern part of Pa and migrated to the northwestern area. My husbands family started in Woodcock twp. in Crawford County. If this sounds parallel to your information we are probably following the same line.I don't know how much other information I can give you because you probably have more then we do but there may be a few things we can contribute.Ardelle Woodring
