MUSCATINE, Iowa - Kent Edwin Wittler, 43, of Muscatine died Friday, June 1, 2001, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

A funeral mass will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, at St. Mathias Catholic Church in Muscatine. Father John Paul Gallagher will be the celebrant. Burial will be in Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, at the Nichols Chapel Hill Funeral Home and Crematory in Muscatine.

Mr. Wittler was born Sept. 7,1957, at Norfolk, Neb., the son of Harold D. and Yvonne Nina Westover Wittler. He married Karen Ann Theisen on June 7, 1980, at Hastings, Neb.

He was a graduate of Norfolk High School, Nebraska Wesleyan College at Lincoln and earned his degree in chemical engineering at Washington University in St. Louis.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Norfolk, Neb. He was an avid collector of toy tractors. He loved his job and woodworking.

He was honored with many achievement awards for his work with Monsanto.

Survivors include his wife Karen; one son Drew at home; one daughter Kelly at home; his parents; Harold and Yvonne Wittler of Norfolk, Neb.; one brother Kurt and his wife Darci of Norfolk, Neb.; two sisters Kari Mc Cartney of Lincoln, Neb. and Kita Andersen and her husband Bob of Hoskins, Neb.; maternal grandmother Evelyn Westover of Birchdale, Minn.; two nieces Abby Andersen and Katie Wittler; five nephews Seth and Blake Andersen, Kyle Mc Cartney, Brad and Ryan Wittler; parents-in-law Kent and Katherine Theisen of Hastings, Neb.; one brother-in-law Ed Theisen of Lakewood, Colo.; and one sister-in-law Deb Theisen of Grand Island, Neb.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents and maternal grandfather.
MUSCATINE, Iowa - E. Jean Wittler, 82, of Muscatine, died Friday, September 3, 2004, at the Muscatine Care Center.

Funeral Service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 7, 2004, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Rev. Don Swanson of the First Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 7, 2004, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church.

Jean was born July 9, 1921, in Muscatine, the daughter of George and Anna Howell Freers. She married Lowell L. Wittler on December 27, 1941, in Hannibal, Missouri.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church, and Eastern Star.

Survivors include a son-in-law, Peter Tuffli of Rock Hills, Missouri; two granddaughters, Amanda Tuffli of Russia and Lauren Tuffli of Rock Hills, Missouri; one brother, Bud Freers and wife, Donna, of Muscatine; and one brother-in-law, Leland Swafford of Muscatine.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one daughter, Patty, and two sisters, Virginia Swafford and Jackie O'Connor.
ROCK HILL, Mo. -- Patricia Wittler Tuffli, 53, of 2524 Pocahantos Place, Rock Hill, died Thursday, May 22, 2003.

Memorial services are 2 p.m. Friday at Bickford Cottage, Muscatine. Burial will be held at a later date.
Visitation is 3-7 p.m. Thursday at Gerber Chapel, Webster Grove, Mo.

Mrs. Tuffli was born May 19, 1950, in Muscatine, the daughter of Lowell and Jean Freers Wittler. She married Peter Tuffli June 7, 1975, in Webster Grove.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Amanda and Lauren; and her mother, Jean Wittler of Bickford Cottage, Muscatine.

She was preceded in death by her father in 1975 and her grandparents.
