James R. Witbro, 76, Green Bay, passed away unexpectedly of a heart attack on Saturday, April 7, 2007. Jim was born on Feb. 21, 1931, to the late Orilla (Vander Bloomen) and Bud Witbro. Jim graduated from Green Bay West High School in 1949 and then served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. On May 30, 1953, Jim married Marilyn Morgan at St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church in Green Bay and they enjoyed over 53 years together. Early in his career Jim and his brother managed Witbro's Super Market in De Pere. He then worked in sales and marketing for several companies including Green Bay Food, Bond Pickle and Bonduel Pickling Co. He retired as owner of Green Bay Brokerage, a food brokerage firm specializing in pickles. Jim enjoyed time with his family and friends most of all. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing at his cabin up north, golfing and playing cards and was an avid Packers fan. He was a member of the De Pere VFW and the Amvets.

Jim is survived by his wife, Marilyn; three daughters, Vickie (Tom) Pierquet, Pamela Witbro, Green Bay; and Linda Witbro, Appleton; three grandchildren, Jessica Gerbers, St. Paul, Minn.; Bryant Gerbers, Denmark; and Stephanie (Charles) Sheldon, Green Bay; one great-grandchild, Ami Sheldon; one sister and brother-in-law, Nancy (Lloyd) Stenbeck, Eden Prairie, Minn.; one sister-in-law, Donna Witbro, Green Bay; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Donald Witbro and his father-in-law and mother-in-law Clifford "Kick" and Henrietta Morgan.

Friends may call at Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St., on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. There will be a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Visitation will continue on Thursday at St. Francis Xavier Church, 220 S. Michigan, De Pere, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian burial at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. John Harper officiating.
