I would be interested in hearing from anyone who has the surname Wawn or any of the subject variations in their family trees. Wawn families were in Yorkshire, England by 1066 when Lord Basyng de Waghen, who had come with William I from France, or was a Saxon supporter of his , was a bailiff and feudal lord of the township of Waghen near Meaux monastery northeast of Hull, Yorkshire.

I am particularly interested in the Wawne families who lived in Marton, Normanby, Sinnington, and Kirby Moorside, Yorkshire in the 1600´s and 1700´s and the Wawn families who lived in and around South Shields, Bishopwearmouth and Sunderland, Co. Durham in the 1800´s.
