I wonder if anyone else is descended from this branch of the Warnock family? According to our family tradition they originally came over from Scotland during the Plantation.

My x3 great grandfather was Robert Warnock, b.c. 1762. He married Elizabeth Cochrane and farmed at Drummeenagh or Kilmagamish, Co Armagh. The couple had one known son, John Warnock, b.c.1801, who married Ann Grimason in 1825. I was told by my uncle that the couple had 6 sons, 5 of whom fought and died in India. (One of these was also called John). The son who remained at home was Samuel, who continued farming at Kilmagamish. Details of another son called William John Warnock were given to me more recently - he emigrated to the USA with his wife, Jane Pentland.

Samuel Warnock married Margaret Florence Richardson on 22 Dec 1870. He became a millwright & small holder, living at Drumgoose Cottage, Drumcree. The couple had 11 children, of whom my grandfather, William Herbert Warnock, was one.

I would be interested to hear from anyone who belongs to this family line, or who can enlighten me about our early ancestors. I've heard of the 3 Warnock brothers who came over from Scotland but don't know if we come from one of them or from a separate family.

I've looked at the Scottish records online but can only find a Johne Warnok b. 28/08/1575 son of Johne Warnok - St. Cuthbert'S Edinburgh, Midlothian.
