Campanella, Olga Mary

Oct. 1, 1915 - Sept. 27, 2007 Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and Great-Great-Grandmother Olga was born in St. Louis, Mo. and lived in Upland at the time of her death. She was the daughter of Evasio Vescovo and Angela Angeleri of Torino, Italy, who immigrated to the United States in the early 20th Century with her brother Gino (deceased). She was valedictorian of Melville High School in St. Louis in 1934 and later received an associates' degree from Missouri Business College. She also attended Chaffey Community College. She married Aldo G. Campanella of New York City June 14, 1939. They moved to Etiwanda in 1946 where they owned a business, the Big Bear Winery and Wine Store. After the winery's closure, she worked as an eligibility worker for San Bernardino County Welfare Dept. She served as president of the Etiwanda PTA where she earned an honorary PTA lifetime membership. She was a leader of the Etiwanda 4-H Club and the Etiwanda Girl Scouts, a member of Catholic Daughters, Upland Travelers and Upland Women's Club and founder of the San Bernardino County Welfare Retirees' Association. She sold Avon for more than 30 years, until Sept. 2007. Aldo preceded her in death in 1978, and she is survived by her five daughters - Alda Davis (husband Monte), Ann Campanella, Rita Hansen (Richard Johnson), Sandra Aplin (Russ) and Linda Campanella Jauron - her 18 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchild. The visitation will be Monday, Oct. 1 at 5 p.m. at Draper's Mortuary, 811 N. Mountain Ave., Ontario, and the rosary will follow at 7 p.m.The funeral mass will be held Tuesday, Oct. 2 at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 12704 Foothill Blvd., Etiwanda. Remembrances can be made to Mercy House Transitional Living Centers, Crossroads, Inc. in Claremont or to your charity of choice.
