There was a Sanders R. VANN in Russell
Co.,Barbour Co., and later in Montgomery Co.,
Alabama in the early to mid 1800's. In
the "History of Russell Co.", he was Arnold
Seale's right hand man. The town of Seale
Station, Russell Co.,AL. was named for Mr.
Seale. I think he had something to do with
getting the R.R. to come to Russell Co. and
located a station at Seale. Most of the
families in the original towns of Villula,
Silver Run, and Glennville( originally in
Barbour Co. now in Russell Co.) moved to
Seale because of the R.R. This Sanders VANN
was probably the son of William VANN, who
acquired in excess of 6000 acres of land in
Chambers, Lee, and Bullock Co.'s thru the
Indian Allotment Act, in 1840's. Under the
comments section of the Land Patent Report
Sanders R. VANN and Arnold Seale are listed.
As far as i can gather from what i have read,
Arnold Seale was a little shady at best.
