Dorothy Lucille Utecht

Dorothy Lucille Utecht, 84, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, February 7, 2003. Dorothy was born on September 29, 1918, the daughter of Fred and Ruth (Ulrich) Wentzel of Fremont, Wisconsin.

She married Melvin Utecht on November 24, 1940. They started their life together on a farm in Fremont located on Lake Poygan. There they raised their family before moving to Winneconne in 1964. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and canning produce from a large garden. She belonged to the Home Maker's Club, and served as a Gray Lady in King, Wisconsin. Once they moved to Winneconne, she served in the United Women's Group at the First Presbyterian Church; and as a volunteer for the American Red Cross. She also served in the P.T.A. and as a Campfire Girl's Leader. She was a loving wife and supported her husband in the many ministries he was involved in. She was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother to her four children and 13 grandchildren. She was our constant prayer warrior.

She is survived by her daughter, Madelon (John) Claterbos, and three sons, Denis (Sharon) Utecht, Warren (Sandra) Utecht and Steven (Vicky) Utecht. Her 13 grandchildren are Michael (Rebecca) Stivers-Zeimet, Nicole, Linnea, and Joel Utecht, and Selena (Jeff) Stefonek, Adam (Jill) Utecht, Stacy and Ryan Utecht, and Jennifer (Travis) Schanely, Amanda, Sam, Grant and Kevin Utecht.

She was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Ruth, her husband of 50 years, Melvin, her only brother Howard and a grandson Troy Utecht.

"Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is Thy faithfulness." Lamentations 3:22-24.

We are rejoicing that she is with the Lord but we miss her dearly. You will always remain in our hearts and minds and we will see you again!

The memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 14, 2003, at Plymouth Congregational Church, 1325 Georgia Street, Oshkosh, Wisconsin 54902. Pastor Rick Hopkins and grandson, Youth Pastor Adam Utecht will be officiating. A luncheon will be served immediately following the service. Friends and family are invited to stay and visit. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
