Mr and Mrs W H Mullins

Willoughby H Mullins was born in England, migrating to the USA as a young man. He married Laura Tuttle in Arlington, South Dakota, and in 1900 they came to Ponoka. They homesteaded in the what was later Brooks. A few years later he also owned all of the section to the north of them. Mr Mullins was one of the organizers of the school district, and was the first Sec - Treas of it. He was a very fine bass singer. They were all active in the church and in all communtiy activities. Mr and Mrs Mullins left Brooks in 1911 to live in Van Nuys, California, where they remained until their deaths. Mr Mullins passed away in 1949 and his wife in 1955. The Mullins had five children, all born in the States and all living at the time of this writing. They range in age from 83 to 72 years. They are Ethel, Willoughby, Arthur, Constance and Spencer. All attended the Brooks school. Ethel married Ray Fish. Their story is elsewhere. Willoughby married Clara Albright in Ponoka in 1912, by Rev George Driver who was the Methodist minister at that time. Clara was a local girl, her family arriving about 1908. Will and Clara farmed for a number of years, then returned to the US, this time to California, where they have since resided. Willoughby played on the Ponoka baseball team for about 10 years, beginning soon after they were married. Both Will and Clara were active in the church and she was also in the Ladies' Aid. Two children were born to this couple. Willoughby Stanley (called Stanley) was born in Brooks in 1921 and passed away in Chico California in 1937. Beatrice was born in the States in 1928. She married Lieutenant Colonel Robert Brown of the US Air Force. They have one son - Curtis. Arthur married Blanche Isenhower in Los Angeles in 1919. Later they returned here and farmed the NE 1/4 of 19-44-25 which was CPR land. This was in the Brooks area. Arthur was also a baseball player. They live in Arizona, and have one daughter - Marjorie, who married name is Murphy. Constance married Jack King. She taught school in Alberta for some time before returning to the States. Jack and Constance, as well as their three daughters, live in Detroit, Michigan, George Spencer married Alice Knowles of Chicago in 1925. They have three sons and one daughter - Donald, Gordon, Davie and Jean. They all live in Chicago.

Laura Tuttle was a 1/2 sister to my gggrandmother, Marion Canfield. Laura was the daughter of Fidelia Chloe Blighton and George Tuttle. Fidelia's first husband was Jeremiah Canfield.
