In a history of Ouachita County, Arkansas, there's info saying this John & William Tate came in 1829 on keel boats from TN and settled "with other Tates" in Ouachita County. We know that George, Anderson & Richard (Capt. Dick) TATE were already in Ouachita County AR living near Tate's Bluff. I'm seeking more info on these families and those associated with them.

Henry Hays (born about 1790 VA) is also known to have come with the Tates in 1829 to AR. Henry appears to have been married to Agnes ___ born 1790 VA and they lived in Williamson County TN in the earlier 1820s before moving to Ouachita County, Arkansas ? William Hays b 1816 TN and Zachariah Hays b 1826 TN are probably sons of Henry & Agnes, as the Ouachita 1860 census includes Agnes Hays age 70 living in Behestian Township in William Hays' household & Zachariah is nearby.

Osment, Cox, Nelson,Wilson and Bryant families may have come from TN with William and John Tate in 1829. Any additional info would be helpful.
