The following corrections to Msg #13, 8/22/99, were sent to me by B. Brown:
Swearingen Ray's death date is not 1844. It was his probate that was ca.
Apr 1846 in St. Francois co., MO. His wife had died previously but I
don't have a date. (2) The marriage for Benjamin B. Ray is not
definitely in Audrain county. Newspaper notices at the time say St.
Louis. The county information came from Bryan and Rose's PIONEER
FAMILIES OF MISSOURI which was done at a later date. No one has found
the marriage information in any county yet. (3) Mary H. Ray who married
Thomas Dickey does not have a known death date. 1862 was the date of her
husband's probate and she was still living then. I have her listed as
dying after 1862. (4) Information I've received from the California Ray
family on John G. Ray leads me to believe John Guinn Ray is probably
correct. It's written in histories as Guinn and Gwinn so I doubt that
Goin is correct. They've found at least one more marriage for him to
Rosalia McCharles in 1871 in Humbolt Co., CA. I suspect there may be
another, too, since I found him with wife Elizabeth in the 1870 census.
