You still at it?
According to Katherine Dingwell, the first Swallow on PEI was Robert Swallow of Yorkshire, England. He held 100 acres on Lot 56 near what is now Annandale but was then known as Grand River (Wharf).

Katherine is a very experienced and well read historian/genealogist and has lived her entire life in PEI.

"Tiny" Underhay's Swallow work on the Island Register web-site disagrees unless he has finally corrected it. He did tell me personally that he agrees with katherine on the first Swallow on PEI being Robert Swallow. William 'The Sailor' was Robert's son.

My great grandmother Marie was his daughter. Marie and her father died on the same day.

Family legends has it that he arrived on a British Royal Navy ship which he jumped and swam ashore (during a brawl on board) and settled on lot 56.

Have you found him in England yet. Me neither.
Both "Tiny" Underhay and Katherine Dingwell are cousins of ours as is half the early population of PEI especially lots 56 and 57.
Bye for now, Helen Mc
