BELLVILLE: Harold R. Stewart, age 88, of Bellville, Ohio passed away Friday morning, January 4, 2013 in Colonial Manor Health Care Center, Loudonville, Ohio.

He was born September 18, 1924 in Bellville, Ohio the son of Wade and Caroline (Huntsman) Stewart and attended Bellville High School.

A U.S. Navy veteran, Harold served two years during World War II in the American Theater.
He was honorably discharged with the rank of Seaman Second Class.
He was a member of the Irvin Hiskey Post #535 American Legion and AMVETS both in Bellville.

While in the service he married his sweetheart, Gloria McLaughlin who survives in Bellville.

Harold worked as a truck driver first delivering lime, then later drove milk truck routes for several companies and hauled water for pools. He retired in the early 2000's.

In addition to his wife, Gloria, Harold is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law Sandy Cochran of Butler, Ohio, Sue and Larry Shope of Bellville, and Judy and Chuck Carman of Culleoka, Tennessee; grandchildren Mike Cochran, Shanna (Andy) Soliday, Tami (Jeff) Cunningham, Sonny (Andrea) Gaddis, Todd Kemp, Chad (Lisa) Kemp, Darrin (Shannon) Shope; great grandchildren Layla, Summer, Dylan, Duke, Sammy, Justin, Caleb and a great grandson on the way to be named Lincoln; a brother Wayne (Virginia) Stewart of Mansfield, Ohio along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son-in-law Larry "Dutch" Cochran, and siblings Kenneth Stewart, Esther Parker, Verda Zimmerman, Martha Froats Isch, and Max Stewart.

Friends may call Monday, January 7, 2013 from 1-3 pm in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home where the funeral service will follow at 3 pm.
Burial with military honors conducted by Irvin Hiskey Post #535 American Legion will follow in Bellville Cemetery.

Memorial contributions to the Alzheimer's Association or the Jefferson Township-Bellville Rescue Squad may be made at the funeral home.
