Hi! I am a descendent of Henry Stapleton thru James Stapleton and Laurette Rappeleye. I am related through Elias Gardener a son in law. My parents are ArJean Millett and Paul Lamoreaux and this would be thru my mother's line. Her
mother was Iris Gardener Sorenson, great great grandaughter of
James. I am also trying to find information on him. I live in Cedar City, Utah and my e-mail is above. I am now at the Winter Games in Salt Lake doing some research as well.

Are you a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints? The line stops at Henry. I am looking in physical records and legal records for his existence in England. I found (if this is him, it is the right time period) a Henry Stapleton as a journeyman printer of the "Craftsman" dated 10 Dec. 1737. There is also an original will in Canterbury which includes any wills done between 1484-1858 years. I am not sure of the date of his, but it was listed there. I found it at Vital Records search on the Internet. You probably know he was born in Bath, Somerset. His son James changed his name to Staples when he was baptized a member of our church and immigrated to the states. He first sent his son George who at 15 was put in the custody of a wagon train coming to Utah. He got the fever and was left with a trapper for dead. He left him in the care of a squaw who nursed him back to health. George was my ancestor. His father found him a year and a half later with the tribe. Quite a story of the reunion.

Who are you and how are you related?
