grandson: James SPENCE
granddau: Susan DAVIS
witn: James M. HINES, Jno. William WARTERS

This is what I have....hope it helps:

Joseph Waller (d.1878) married Rebecca Williamson of Duplin county. who died in 1873. They had six children.
Haywood Waller (b.1821) married Charlotte Grady of Lenoir County (9/14/1848)
Stephen Waller (b.5/18/1818, d.10/10/1869) Married Elvia E. Wingate
Asa Waller (b.1832) married Adline Parish (d.1903)
William Waller married a Miss Sanderson and lived in Durham.
Mary Waller Married a Mr. Hill.
Susan Waller married a Mr. Stephen Spence.
All that I have on dates are included in this and this is as far back as the Waller's were able to go. I can only suppose that the Lucy Spence as listed in the census is the sister(?) of Stephen Spence. The Daughter Susan age 1 is the child of Susan Waller and Stephen Spence. Susan Waller Spence may have died while giving birth. She could also have travelled with her husband if he was an officer in the CSA. This is only a supposition.

if I can be of further help please feel free to contact me at anytime. The information I have mostly pertains to the gencom of Stephen Waller, Susan Waller's brother.

Hi Aaron,

Thanks for answering. Here is what I have. I am a direct decendant of Susan Spence. She married Jacob Hartsfield Davis, both of Lenoir co. NC. The earliest I have found her is the 1850 US Census of Lenoir co. NC. A Susan Spence, age 1, is listed living with Joseph and Rebecca Waller, Mary and William. Listed also in this same household is Lucy Spence age 35, Mary age 9, Nancy age 5 and James 3 m.

The 1860 census of Woodington District, Lenoir co. shows Susan and Nnancy Spence still lving with Joseph and Rebecca Waller. The age of Susan fits what I have on Susans death certificate I found in Raleigh archives. So this is why I feel that Susan is a decendant of the Wallers.

I do not know Lucy Spence's maiden name or her husbands name. Any help is appreciated.
