Isom's first wife was Parthena Rainey (a cousin?) They had 7 or 8 children.

Isom's son by 2nd wife, Mary Garrett, nicknamed,"Bud", Henderson Alexander Rainey is buried in the cemetary beside the Methodist Church in the Forked Deer Community of Haywood County. His tombstone is an obelisk inscribed with,"His last words were Hallelujah, Praise The Lord" Proclamation from his church board. He was youngest of eight children. A brother, Roy Rainey was a cotton buyer and co-owner of a grocery store in Brownsville, Tn. with Arthur Rose. The grocery was operating as Rainey & Rose Grocery and they delivered groceries in a horse-drawn wagon. Another brother was Clyde Rainey who owned a printing shop in Corpus Christi, Texas, believe that his wife's name was Edna. Bud's closest sibling was a sister, Annie Laurie, who married Clyde Simpson. They lived in Corpus, where they are both buried. Henderson Alexander "Bud" Rainey was named for his mother, Mary Garrett's brother, Henderson Alexander Garrett.
