SARANAC LAKE — John A. Quinn, 78, of Norton Street, St. Regis Falls, died Saturday morning, April 29, 2000, at Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.

Friends may call on Tuesday from 9 to 11 a.m. at Bassett Funeral Home in St. Regis Falls. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. John Demo, pastor of St. Ann’s Church, officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Mr. Quinn is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law — Brian and Jeanie Quinn of St. Regis Falls and Fred and Sonja Quinn of Bangor; two daughters — Cynthia Quinn and Mrs. Michael (Valerie) McKenna, both of St. Regis Falls; one brother — Frank and Betty Quinn of California City, Cal.; one sister — Ruth Peck of California City, Cal.; eleven grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Besides his wife, Henrietta, he was predeceased by one brother, Andrew, and three sisters — Berndetta Quinn, Theresa Sequin, and Marie Waite.

Mr. Quinn was born in Watertown on January 15, 1922, the son of Michael Quinn and Mary Jane Burke Quinn. He attended Lowville schools and entered the U.S. Army in 1942, serving until 1945. He served in Panama and attained the rank of corporal. He married Henrietta Haymen on January 15, 1955, in East Stroudsburg, PA. Mrs. Quinn died September 13, 1993.

Mr. Quinn worked for many years as a carpenter on various construction sites through Local Union 1042 in Plattsburgh, N.Y.

He was a member of St. Ann’s Church in St. Regis Falls and a member of the St. Regis Falls Sportsmen’s Club. He was an avid bowler at the Crossroads in Moira.

Donations in his memory can be made to the St. Regis Falls Fire and Rescue Squad.
