Keeseville — Joseph Rene Quesnel, 82, formerly of Front Street, Keeseville, died Friday, Sept. 13, 2002, at his home in Ocala, Fla., after a short illness, he was under the care of his family and Hospice of Ocala.

He was born in Bridgeport, Vt., on Aug. 1, 1920, the son of Joseph Avilla and Lydia (Geroux) Quesnel.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign War. He served with the U.S. Army from 1942 through 1946 in the European Theater during World War II.

Joe was owner and operator of the former Keeseville IGA store, for many years. Joe also worked as a carpenter on industrial construction and residence construction. He continued his career as a correction officer and retired after a disability, from the N.Y. State Dept. of Corrections at Dannemora.

Late in the eighties, Joe and his wife moved to Ocala, Fla., where they enjoyed traveling in his motor home.

Survivors include, his wife, Thelma Quesnel of Paris, Mich. and Ocala, FL.; one son, David Quesnel; one daughter-in-law, and one granddaughter, of Rochester N.Y.; five brothers, Aldoria of Rutland, Vt., Arthur of Lakeland, Fla., and Plattsburgh, N.Y., Raymond of Orlando, Fla., Edward of Plattsburgh, and Hector Quesnel of West Chazy, N.Y.

He was predeceased by his parents, J.A. Quesnel and Lydia (Geroux) Quesnel; his first wife, Mildred (Yerdon) Quesnel; and four brothers, Leo, Floriand, Romeo and Maurice Quesnel; and one sister, Lea Marie King.

Burial services were held at The Assembly of God Church in Ocala, Fla.
