Edith Clara Matilda Fox, the daughter of Edward and Clara (Schmadeke) Pribnow was born on January 5, 1915 in Dodge County, NE north of Scribner, NE. She was baptized at the Methodist Church in Hooper, NE in 1916. Edith started school in Kansas, then attended in Friend and Garden City. Her family moved to Boone County where she finished the 10th grade at Boone County School District #78.
On November 4, 1936 Edith was united in marriage to Merlin Fox at Akron, NE. The couple lived and farmed west of Albion. In 1992 Edith joined the Zion Lutheran Church in Albion. She was a member of the Happy Crocheters in Albion. Merlin died in October 1992. She moved to Norfolk in 1996 and then to Denver in 2007. It was there that she passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2009 at the Amberwood Court Care Center in Denver, CO at 94 years of age.
Edith is survived by her daughters: June Kampmann and husband LaVern of Denver, CO; Edna Leach of Aurora, CO; Erma Fox of Columbus, NE; her son Harry Fox of Hoskins, NE; 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren; sisters: Lena Swanson of Papilion, NE; Leona Burnside of Santa Maria, CA; brother Marvin Pribnow of Albion, NE; along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Merlin in 1992, son Charles Fox; grandson Randy Kampmann; brothers Otto, Edward, Earvin & Casper Pribnow; and sisters Pearl Wennen, Valda Clark, and Ester Barnhardt.
Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at the Levander Funeral Home in Albion with Rev. Larry Sydow officiating. Burial will be at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Albion. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. at the Levander Funeral Home in Albion.
